Apple releases massive round of OS X patches

Apple has released updates for Leopard and Snow Leopard, two of the company’s most recent Mac operating systems. Apple users can now download the patches and update to version 10.6.3 of Snow Leopard, while a separate update is available for those who use Mac OS X 10.5.

Several of the updates were classified as “critical” by Apple, as the patches attempt to address both security and stability issues, in addition to application compatibility. This includes fixes that help prevent remote attacks or the execution of malicious code.

The file size of the update was quite large as far as updates go. Infosecurity notes a download size in excess of 700 MB for some Mac OS 10.6 users, but the download size will depend on the particular machine’s configuration.

This round of updates also includes patches for those using Mac OS X Server as well. Updates can be downloaded by using the Software Updates feature on your Mac, or by visiting the Security Update page on the Apple website.
