DataGravity Forms Advisory Board of Top Security Names

DataGravity has formed a Security Advisory Board that includes five data security experts from a wide range of backgrounds and specialties.

The DataGravity Security Advisory Board includes:

  • Martin Fisher, IT security manager for the Northside hospital system in Georgia, a multi-hospital, 13,000-employee healthcare provider; host of the popular “Southern Fried Security” podcast
  • Rick Holland, vice president of marketing at Digital Shadows and former vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research; co-chair of SANS Cyber Threat Intelligence Summit
  • Brian Honan, owner and CEO of BH Consulting
  • Wendy Nather, research director at the Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center (R-CISC) and previously research director of the information security practice at 451 Research; led IT security for the EMEA region of Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS)
  • Dave Shackleford, principal consultant at Voodoo Security; he was previously chief security officer for Configuresoft and CTO for the Center for Internet Security; a VMware expert, he is the author of Virtualization Security: Protecting Virtualized Environments

As the security market continues to rapidly evolve, this group of experts and practitioners will provide invaluable feedback on the industry to help deliver high-impact solutions to challenges in defining, detecting and defending critical information, wherever the data lives.

The formation of the board follows the hire of DataGravity chief information security officer (CISO) Andrew Hay earlier in 2016.

“Our customers want the security and insights that come from their actual data stores—a need that has gone unmet by traditional solutions that look at from outside, such as firewalls, desktops and networks,” said Hay. “With the guidance of our Security Advisory Board, DataGravity will continue to pursue a product strategy that addresses this continued need in data security for our customers.”

The board convenes as DataGravity moves forward with development of a software-only version of its data-aware solutions. The technology, now in beta testing with customers, will be released later this year.

“Many companies face security challenges when it comes to understanding what actually lives in their data, and need assistance putting measures in place to protect their critical information,” said Nather. “With the help of other leading security vendors and industry advisors on the DataGravity Security Advisory Board, the company will benefit from ongoing market feedback to help develop the best possible data threat protection solutions for customers.”
