Eight leading North West businessmen, including Rob Cotton, CEO of NCC Group, celebrated an epic success this week, raising over £210,000 to date for The Christie NHS Trust while beating the hardest stages of the Tour de France route in the process.

From the 14th September to the 18th September NCC Group's Rob Cotton was joined by seven other businessmen in the battle to complete 600 km of mountain cycling in the French Alps. Despite severe weather conditions and risk of injury, the amateur cyclists completed five iconic stages including Mont Ventoux, Col de Vars and Alpe d’Huez, and climbed the equivalent height of Mount Everest in the process.

Officially launched in April 2013, the ambitious On The Road To Recovery challenge is part of a wider campaign to raise £1million for The Christie, in order to purchase two new mobile chemotherapy trucks and enable cancer sufferers in the region to get treatment closer to home.

The next event in the year-long campaign is the Funny Business comedy night on the 2nd October, which will see the eight North West businesspeople try their hand at stand-up comedy in front of a crowd of hundreds.
