As previously reported by Infosecurity, Adobe acknowledged last week that a critical vulnerability exists in its Flash Player 10.0.0.45.2 and earlier versions for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris operating systems. According to Adobe, the vulnerability can cause a crash and allow attackers to take control of affected systems.

The company also contributed to the speculation that this Flash Player vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild, and in response Adobe will issue a fix for Flash Player 10.x on June 10 for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, with a yet-to-be-determined release patch date for Solaris systems.

The security bulletin issued by Adobe last week also covered critical vulnerabilities for Reader and Acrobat for Windows, Mac and UNIX, but the company said it will not issue immediate patches to fix these bugs. Instead Adobe said it will accelerate its originally scheduled quarterly patch, which was slated for July 13, and issue fixes for Reader and Acrobat by June 29.
