HID Global eyes purchase of ActivIdentity

HID Global of Irvine, Calif., which is owned by entry-point security firm ASSA ABLOY Group, said it is pursuing the deal to bring the company stronger physical and logical access control offerings available from ActivIdentity.

ActivIdentity currently provides identity access solutions, including authentication devices and credential management systems. Among the company’s largest customers are the US Department of Defense, Nissan, and Saudi Aramco.

“ActivIdentity is an excellent strategic fit on several dimensions with HID Global’s vision of trusted leadership in solutions for the delivery of secure identity,” said HID Global president and CEO Denis Hébert in a press release statement. ”We’re excited about the tremendous talent base that will add incremental and complementary capabilities to the HID Global organization.”

ActivIdentity currently employees 200 people over seven locations, with revenues of $62 million for the fiscal year ending in Sept. 2009. HID Global said it expects the deal to close in December of this year, pending regulatory clearances and approval by the majority of ActivIdentity shareholders.
