Unlimited online backup from F-Secure

15 May 2009

An unlimited online backup solution, which works automatically in the background, has been launched by Finnish IT security service provider F-Secure.

F-Secure said the files are encrypted and then transferred securely over to online data centres using Government grade SSL and 3DES technologies.

The backed-up content can then be viewed by the user on a web portal from any PC or Mac with an internet connection.

The software and backup storage space is sold on an annual fee basis per computer, which stays the same even if backup needs should increase.

Antti Reijonen, vice president for consumer business and marketing at F-Secure, said: “F-Secure Online Backup responds to the emotional concern people have about losing the important files on their computer. Surprisingly very few people today make sufficient backups of their content. Online backup automates this task, so there is no need to spend time burning CDs or setting up external storage devices, which has kept people from making backups.”
