Beyond Passwords: Strong Authentication and online services

Date: 12 February 2009,
Duration: 1 hours

Since the birth of e-commerce a decade ago and up to today’s unprecedented reach of the internet, the business opportunities for delivering services and goods over the internet continue to increase. Alongside the growth of e-commerce, service providers have been required to invest more in offering a secure and trusted service delivery to their customers within an environment of increased risk and fraud. Financial services, in particular, are facing more sophisticated and targeted Cybercrime. Media reports of phishing attacks and identity theft are making customers loose trust in online services and increase costs for the providers to ensure secure service. Authenticating users via passwords has become the most common, and at the same time, the least secure method for authentication. Users cannot deal with, or should not be required to deal with, the multitude of passwords to the many services they use. Authenticating in a secure way but at the same time, ensuring a user friendly experience, has become an increasingly important factor in making online services appealing and usable. This Webinar will: * Cover an overview of advanced authentication technologies * Offer alternatives to passwords already being used today * Offer insight into authentication technology innovation
