Adobe releases security update for Flash Player

The update is for Flash Player 10.1.85.3 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and Solaris, and Adobe Flash Player 10.1.95.1 for Android, according to an Adobe security bulletin.

The vulnerabilities, including a memory corruption vulnerability (CVE-2010-3654) reported late last month, could cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.

Adobe recommends users of Adobe Flash Player 10.1.85.3 and earlier versions update to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.102.64 from the Adobe Flash Player Download Center.

The firm plans to make an update for Flash Player 10.x for Android available by November 9.

For users who cannot update to Flash Player 10.1.102.64, Adobe has developed a patched version of Flash Player 9, Flash Player 9.0.289.0.
