Google, Microsoft and Yahoo help US target illegal online pharmacies

The group, which will support the Obama administration's efforts, will comprise companies that serve as Internet "choke points", said Bloomberg News.

The US National Association of Boards of Pharmacies estimates counterfeit drug sales account for about $75bn in global sales.

The US government has appealed to the private sector for help to deal with the problem without imposing regulations.

Other companies to take part include Yahoo, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Neustar, eNom, eBay and Paypal.
