The primary incentives for organizations exploring the cloud are to save money (44%) and gain greater cost control (35%), the CA poll found.
Of the 434 IT professionals surveyed, 68% said security was their biggest concern when moving to the cloud and 40% said they were worried about poor service quality.
Infrastructure and development platforms in the cloud appear to be poised for growth, with 43% of organizations considering using them.
Adam Famularo, general manager at CA Technologies, said the adoption of cloud technology is a growing trend in large organizations.
"With this shift comes an increasing need for sophisticated management and security, allowing enterprises to change how they think about IT to reap the full rewards that cloud computing offers – agility, efficiency and scalability," he said.
However, many analysts have predicted that small businesses will be much quicker to move to cloud adoption.
