Webroot secures College of Law as new customer

The College of Law - with seven sites across the UK, including Birmingham and Chester, and headquartered in Guildford - is billed as the UK's leading supplier of legal education and training, with affiliations and endorsements from many of the top legal firms in the UK.

According to Webroot, the college offers numerous courses and publications, as well as free legal advice to members of the public.

Nick Galt, IT director with the college, said it had difficulties because a majority of the computers are used by students who inevitably use online email systems.

As a result, he said, the college had around 2,500 PCs on its cloud-based network, and has been exposed to vast amounts of spam and potential email viruses.

"None of the previous solutions we tried were able to handle the sheer volume of spam we were receiving," he said.

"We opted to use Webroot E-Mail Security SaaS because it was a flexible and cost-effective solution that is proven to detect spam and block malware," he said.

In just under four months, Webroot solution has already blocked 6.5 million emails, approximately 90 per cent of the college's incoming email.

Webroot is sponsoring Infosecurity's final webinar before the summer recess.

Entitled `Recent Trends in Data Protection and Security in the Cloud," the programme - which takes place this Thursday at 3pm UK time - the event promises to be a fitting sign-off for our webinar programme.
