Skills, knowledge & experience
• Have demonstrated SQL expertise in a previous role • Working with Microsoft’s SQL Server stack will be second nature; knowledge of additional coding languages is an advantage • Excellent problem solving abilities – able to think ’outside the box’ when required • Able to understand complex data projects involving multiple stakeholders, taking a methodical approach to issue resolution • Excellent communication skills – can translate business requirements into technical solutions, as well as explain concepts to those less technically minded • Confident working independently as well as in a team; happy to operate collaboratively with the Data Solutions Director as well as help train the Data Solutions Executive. • Can grasp and assimilate technical concepts quickly, with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies • Enthusiasm for process improvement and operational efficiency • Highly motivated with a ’can-do’ attitude • Organised and detail-focused, process oriented approach • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines, prioritising accordingly
SSIS Skill Expectations: • Ask the right questions • Import data sources by building Connection Managers • Basic transformations; o add columns o cast variables o filter, sort aggregate o lookups • Deal with complexity • Work is control flow, not just data flow, e.g. looping • Script tasks in C# • T-SQL commands • Parallelism • Optimisation & efficiency of data management • Framework design • Auditing
