A ESolutions unveils Authority Miner

Announcing the updated package at the Counter Terror Expo event in London yesterday, the firm says that one of its clients - West Midlands Police - reckons that it can save around £250,000 a year using the technology.

In use, Authority Miner is a visual analytic tool that allows end users, business analysts and data miners to build business processes by combining data from one or more systems, that can then be subsequently automated to provide an overview of data in an organisations.

Following the initial run with the software, the firm says that the process can be rerun using new data, providing the user with actionable information and intelligence, working within the UK's National Intelligence Model (NIM).

One of the most interesting applications of Authority Miner is its ability to identify those individuals who are causing the most harm to the community.

To do this, the software analyses the data available within the local police force or relevant security agency, and then correlates that data with data held on every other available agency. The results are then displayed to the user in a 3D format.

This allows the police or security agency to quickly answer questions such as "how many relevant criminal networks are currently operating" or "which of the criminal networks need targeting first."
