FBI raids Iowa woman's home as part of LulzSec probe

On June 23, the FBI agents served search warrants to Laurelai Bailey, who lives in Davenport, Iowa, and conducted a five-hour interrogation of the woman, according to a report by Gawker.

The agents told Bailey that they were investigating a cyber attack against security firm HBGary by the hackers associated with Anonymous, who subsequently broke away to form LulzSec.

Bailey told Gawker that the FBI wanted her to work as an informant to gather information on the hacktivists. "They wanted to know if I could get close to them. I told them these people hate me... it wouldn't do any good."

Bailey explained that she had leaked logs from a secret chat room in which the hacktivists discussed plans for the HBGary attack in retaliation for harassing some of her friends. The FBI was particularly interested in any information about “Kayla”, a member of the LulzSec group.

The FBI then confiscated her hard drives, camera, and other computer equipment, Bailey told Gawker.

Bailey said that she chatted with a friend online about the raid, and the record of their chat was leaked in a document that portrayed her as a member of LulzSec. The document included her real name and contact information, and the association with Lulz Security caused her to lose her job in tech support.
