Fifth Annual (ISC)² CyberSecureGov Focuses on Workforce Education

(ISC)² has announced the final speaker agenda for this year’s CyberSecureGov three-day training event.

Themed Educating the Workforce in Cyber, the confab attracts 600+ attendees, bringing together experts from government, academia and industry to address the best practices, principles and technologies that create a culture characterized by a security mindset. The 2016 election, bug bounty and disclosure, Russian operations, purple teaming and cyber literacy are just a few of the topics being addressed when the event kicks off May 9 at the Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C.

Keynote speakers include: Kevin Johnson, CEO, Secure Ideas; David Kennedy, founder of TrustedSec, Binary Defense Systems and DerbyCon and a member of the (ISC)² Board of Directors; Rodney J. Peterson, director of National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, National Institute of Standards and Technology, US Department of Commerce; Dan Waddell, managing director, North America Region, and director of US government affairs, (ISC)²; and Ron Sanders, vice president and fellow, Booz Allen Hamilton; Christopher Pogue, CISO, Nuix; Adam Rak, senior vice president, Bond & Associates; Hon. Phillip J. Bond, president and CEO of Bond & Associates; Nicole Tisdale, democratic staff director and counsel, House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence; Danielle Sheer, general counsel, Carbonite; Will Ackerly, CTO and co-founder, Virtru; Austin Carson, executive director, TechFreedom; Paul Rosenzweig, principal, Red Branch Consulting; David Shearer, CEO, (ISC)2; Brig. Panel topics will include Encryption and Privacy Protections – The Third Rail, and the 2017 Global Information Security Workforce Study by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education and (ISC)² – a US Government Perspective.

Also, breakout topics include: Strategy, Security and Transforming Government with the Cloud; Excellence in Bug Bounty and Disclosure Programs; The Future of Ransomware; The Threat Actor Studio; How To Approach Securing The Internet of Things (IoT) In Government; The Working Cloud: Tackling the Security Risks; and What Security Professionals Can Learn From The 2016 Election.

“If you work for the US government—either as a contractor or direct hire—cybersecurity is now your job,” said Waddell. “More and more, government agencies are requiring good cyber hygiene practices in contracts, job descriptions, performance reviews and employee training programs. This year’s CyberSecureGov’s three-day agenda will host world-renowned experts from government and industry, both inside and outside the Beltway, who will help attendees develop a security mindset throughout all levels of the government workforce.”

Attendees will have access to all three days of training sessions, a king-of-the-hill-style cybersecurity competition and a career fair.
