Global Security Challenge Competition open for entries

The London-based hub for security innovators, start-ups and investors, Global Security Challenge LLC (GSC), says the aim is to “identify, explore and foster innovation in the field of homeland security technology.”

Founders of the Global Security Challenge, Simon Schneider and Janeen Chupa, comment: “The Global Security Challenge has become the must-attend event for people who want to make deals in early-stage security technologies. We are proud that our top contenders from previous competitions have subsequently raised over US$52m in fresh capital.”

There are different categories depending on the maturity of ideas and the 2009 competition will include six regional semi-finals held throughout Europe, Asia and North America, with the final being held at the GSC Security Summit at the London Business School on 13 November 2009.

The winners will receive up to US$500 000 cash grants, mentorships from venture capital funds including Hummer Winblad and Civitas Group, and publicity and exposure.

The Global Security Challenge is supported by Accenture, BAE Systems, ONR Global, PegasusBridge Fund Management, Smiths Detection, TSWG, and the US Department of Homeland Security.
