The Chrome browser returns an error message that tells the users that the requested site’s server certificate is invalid even when it is in fact valid.
The fix, however, might reintroduce an issue in which a black screen appears on Hybrid Graphics with GPU accelerated compositing enabled. “We are actively working on a fix for it”, Karen Grunberg with Google Chrome explained in a blog.
Many users reported having the same problems with Chrome and some provided a variety of workarounds for it, explained Dennis Fisher in a Threat Post blog. In some cases, users said that closing and then restarting Chrome fixed the issue, while others said that switching user directories helped as well, he wrote.
The update comes two week after the release of Chrome 18, which included nine security fixes, none critical.
Google doled out $4,000 in bug bounties, as well as additional $8,000 to researchers for working with the company during the development cycle and preventing security regressions from reaching the stable channel.
