Infosecurity Europe 2013: Information Security Community raises over £190,000 for Charities

Several cheque presentations were made this week at the Infosecurity Europe event in London.

The White Hat Ball in February raised a record £135,000 for ChildLine, and this sum, added to the £15,000 raised by Team White Hat’s runners in last year’s London Marathon, comprised the total cheque for £150,000 that White Hat Chairman, Gerry O’Neill, presented to Rosanne Pearce, ChildLine Senior Supervisor.

In addition, the White Hat Rally raised a record £39,000 for Barnardos, and Rally Committee Chairman, Stephen Khan, presented a cheque for this amount to Allan McLaren, Deputy Director of Fundraising, for Barnardos.

Gerry O’Neill commented: "In a time of apparent financial stringency, I am delighted that we were able to raise such a fantastic record amount for ChildLine at this year's White Hat Ball. Our thanks go to the sponsors, prize donors, and of course those who bought tickets and gave so generously on the night. And thanks also to our organisers, entertainers, and all who helped make it such a fun and memorable evening.”

“Congratulations to the White Hat Rally, Marathon and Golf Day teams and supporters who also raised significant sums. The money raised will go straight to helping vulnerable children and young people in different ways”, O’Neill said, who praised the information security for coming together to raise so much money for charity.
