The winners of the 2010 BT information security journalism awards were announced by Ray Stanton, executive global head of business continuity, security and governance, BT.
Infosecurity journalist Danny Bradbury won the ‘Business Continuity Feature of the Year’ award for his article, An Olympic effort to secure the games, which exposes the information security efforts which surrounded the Winter Olympics in Canada. This appeared in the January/February 2010 issue of Infosecurity.
Infosecurity journalist Cath Everett scooped the prize for the ‘Identity Management Feature of the Year’ award for her Infosecurity cover story, Who do you think you are? which appeared in the November/December 2009 issue and takes a look at PKI and identity tokens as ways of authenticating identity online.
The ‘Information Security Journalist of the Year’ award went to Davey Winder, a regular Infosecurity freelancer.
Stanton, head of this year’s judging panel, said: “Every year the importance of information security journalism becomes greater, whether we’re talking about the corporate world or home users. The entries we received were a wonderful illustration of that fact, covering all the big issues, rich with insight, and unafraid to ask difficult questions.”
Joining Ray Stanton on the judging panel were Ron Condon, UK Bureau Chief at SearchSecurity; Graham Edwards, Head of Group Information and IT risk, ING; Malcolm Marshall, UK Lead Partner for Security and Continuity Services at KPMG; Professor Fred Piper, Director of the Information Security Group at Royal Holloway, University of London; and Dr. Robert Coles, CISO & Head of Digital Risk & Security, National Grid.
