Infosecurity Weekly Brief - April 27

Last week, Infosecurity Magazine was at the RSA show in San Francisco. A variety of vendors launched new products. 

Absolute Software revealed a version of its desktop security and remote location software for netbooks. 

Modulo Security announced a version of its Risk Manager software for the iPhone, enabling mobile evidence collection linked to the GPS-enabled device.
 
RSA launched its Adaptive Authentication Platform for risk-based authentication to resources like email, intranets and extranets. It also launched RSA Share, an online developer community that will make application security tools available to developers for free. It kicked off the initiative by offering its BSafe encryption toolkit to the community as a free download.
 
Netgear launched a line of ProSecure unified threat management products for SMBs. 

Symantec launched its Protection Suite (SPS) Enterprise Edition and SPS Small Business Edition, which combines its anti-virus product with threat prevention.
 
CA launched its Enterprise Log Manager product, for managing security information, and a new version of its Role and Compliance Manager for managing the identity lifecycle. It also rolled out CA DLP, a data loss prevention system.  
 
Intrusion prevention firm TippingPoint teamed with Critical Watch to integrate its Intrusion Prevention System with Critical Watch FusionVM. The companies are mapping the vulnerability library in FusionVM to the IPS's filters. 
 
BeCrypt announced version 3.0 of its Trusted Client software, which provides a secure working environment on a USB key that can be plugged into any machine. It includes support for 3G, restricted access to trusted destinations such as a corporate networks, and strong user authentication.  
 
Voltage Security unveiled a new version of its Voltage Security Network, its online service that lets companies send encrypted communications to participating partners outside the organisation. The system now supports Blackberry and Outlook, said the firm, and it now includes archiving and eDiscovery add-ons.
 
Managed security services firm Vigilant announced its Fulcrum Framework, a configuration library that helps mid-to large-sized organisations keep their security information and event management systems in line.
 
McAfee's CEO Dave DeWalt unveiled the firm's vision of 'predictive security', in which information harvested from different points of the network would be used to create more preventative measures that would help to secure a company's infrastructure. 
 
Thales (formerly nCipher) announced that its hardware security modules had achieved Common Criteria EAL4+ certification.
