Announcing the new service, Garry Sidaway, Integralis' director of security strategy, said that data loss prevention has become a top priority for many organisations due to an increasing amount of sensitive data that is being stored electronically.
"This valuable data enables organisations to provide greater services to consumers, but it also comes with responsibility to ensure the information is well protected", he explained. According to Sidaway, as a result of this, organisations are faced with an increasing pressure to meet industry regulations and government legislation.
"For example, the Data Protection Act requires anyone who handles personal information to comply with a number of important legal obligations to guarantee personal privacy. Organisations who fail to comply with these legislations will face severe financial penalties, in addition to the damage to their brand and reputation", he said.
This, says Integralis, is where their new service comes into play, as it allows businesses of all sizes to analyse what is happening with the data on its IT systems.
The service is delivered by Integralis' consultants, who analyse what the data is doing on the client's computer resources, and use standard templates to identify common sensitive data such as credit cardholder information, whilst customer specific information can be profiled and then monitored against access and usage policies.
A typical assessment service, says Integralis, takes five to ten days and at the end of the service, a full report with conclusions is presented to the customer for policy fine-tuning, remediation or further data loss prevention strategy planning, as appropriate.
