Kim Dotcom will not go gentle into that good prison night

We can't help but notice the Kim Dotcom bears a striking resemblance to a certain Austin Powers villain. Care to guess which one?

Dotcom, who is obviously keeping busy while out on bail, is setting his sights on the US government and its “war on the internet”, according to a report by Wired’s Threat Level. However, the address for the website given in the report, kim.com, was not accessible by Infosecurity's reporters.

In January, Dotcom along with six other individuals were indicted in the US for copyright infringement for their roles in the filesharing Megaupload.com site. As part of an international law enforcement effort, New Zealand police arrested Dotcom and three others. Dotcom was subsequently granted bail.

Dotcom is apparently trying to drum up support by appealing to well-known US copyright legislation, which was defeated by a grassroots internet effort. In addition, Dotcom recorded a video with him singing a song addressed to President Obama: “Whatever happed to change, Mr. President?”

Dotcom has become emboldened by recent legal wins in New Zealand. Last month, a judge ruled that the original search warrants obtained by New Zealand police to search Dotcom’s property and seize various items were illegal. The judge said the shipment of cloned drives seized from Dotcom and sent to the FBI contradicted New Zealand law.
