Starting salaries for recent graduates increased to between £30,000 and £35,000, the survey found.
Salaries for government-focused CLAS consultants have stabilized, reflecting the recent UK government pledge to spend £1 billion on cyber security over the next three years, according to Acumin.
Information security sales people are continuing to fare well throughout the economic downturn, especially those selling to the channel, Acumin said.
The Acumin survey supports trends identified in other salary surveys. A survey by Barclay Simpson released earlier this year found that salaries for information security professionals jumped 11% in 2010.
The UK information security recruitment market saw an early spike in 2010 caused by demand that had been deferred because of the economic slowdown. By the latter half of 2010, demand for information security professions continued to climb as the recovery become more widespread and the available pool of professionals shrunk, leading to an increase in salaries, the survey said.
Similar results have been found in the US. Based on its research, Robert Half International predicted that salaries for IT security professionals would increase by more than 4% this year.
By job description, Robert Half predicted that the salary for a data security analyst is expected to increase by 4.5% this year, the salary for a systems security administrator is expected to jump 4.0%; for a network security administrator, 4.3%; and for an information systems security manager, 4.4%.
