The list of nominees was released last week by the White House and includes representatives from many corners of the business and public sector economy. The President’s Management Advisory Board (PMAB) was created in April 2010 to advise the executive branch “on matters related to Federal Government management and operation”, including productivity, technology applications, and customer service, according to a statement from Press Secretary’s office.
Among the appointees was Enrique Salem, current president and chief executive of Symantec. Salem has been with the security company since 2004.
Also nominated from the tech sector was Shantanu Narayen, president and CEO of Adobe Systems. The remainder of the appointees – 10 in total – were all chief executives, including the CEOs of Pfizer, BET Networks, the American Red Cross, and health insurance provider Aetna.
“I am grateful that these impressive individuals have chosen to dedicate their talents to serving the American people at this important time for our country”, said President Obama in a statement. “I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead to deliver a government that’s more affordable, effective and efficient.”
