The White Hat Rally – One Olympic race not to miss

Twenty-two cars have signed up for this year’s White Hat Rally and will be driving from Market Harborough to Milton Keynes in a three-day Olympic themed charity tour to raise money to help children across the UK. The White Hat Rally takes the InfoSec community’s petrol heads and adventure seekers on a scenic, action packed tour in aid of Barnardo’s charity. There is still plenty of time for new teams to sign up to take part in the event, which runs from June 22nd to 24th 2012, just go to www.whitehatrally.org to find out how.

The White Hat Rally has the support of actress Tina Hobley, best known for being in Coronation Street and Holby City. As an ambassador for Barnardo's, she appreciates the importance of fund raising events: "I hope everyone taking part in the White Hat Rally has a fantastic time," Tina has said. "I wish I could join you as it looks amazing and hope you blaze a trail for Barnardo’s and raise lots of money for a cause that’s very close to my heart."

The White Hat Rally had a very successful week at Infosecurity Europe last month, raising over £1,200 as well as signing up new teams, gathering sponsors and even raffling off last year’s winning vehicle that was very kindly donated by Company85. Barnardo's and Company85 are planning the "handover of keys" to the lucky winner, Dan Biggs, UK IT Support Manager, Systemax Europe, next week.

“There are three ways you can help make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children through the White Hat Rally,” said Martin Law from White Hat Rally. “You can put together a team from your workplace and join in the action packed rally through a beautiful slice of the English countryside and enjoy some great PR and networking opportunities or you can donate directly to the charity or become a sponsor of the event.”

Along with support for Barnardo’s, sponsoring the event provides organisations with a great opportunity to grow brand awareness within the information security industry, along with a whole host of networking opportunities. There are two packages to choose from: bronze (minimum donation of £350), or silver (minimum of £1,000).

NCC Group, a leading global information assurance firm, is the main Gold sponsor for the 2012 event and is l also entering two teams of its own. Integralis and Attraction World are signed up as a Silver Sponsor and so far Thales, Company85 and The Jericho Forum are Bronze Sponsors.

Entry for a team of up to three is £300, additional places at £50pp. Each team is asked to raise a minimum of £1,000 for Barnardo's through donations / sponsorship. You can take part in any vehicle provided it has four wheels on the road and is taxed, insured and MOT’ed. It will be a lot of fun, and we have some great activities planned including off road rally driving, a HGV challenge and a double decker bus and a skid pan experience!
