Unisys adds more secure cloud options

Showcasing its services at the SYS-CON Cloud Computing Conference and Expo, Unisys launched the Unisys Secure Private Cloud Solution. Shipping next month, the service enables customers to operate cloud type services using their own IT infrastructures. It enables them to virtualize servers and storage, automate operations, and provision resources dynamically, Unisys said.

The secure private cloud service enables users to provision their own resources via a self-service portal. It is also possible to add the Unisys Stealth function for extra data protection. The service 'cloaks' data as it moves across the network, which makes it useful for multi-tenant environments.

Clients can manage their own internal cloud based infrastructures, or let Unisys do it as part of its Converged Remote Infrastructure Management Solution. The company is planning enhancements to this service, including live chat to help resolve service issues.

The company enhanced its existing publicly-hosted cloud system with disaster recovery backup options, allowing customers to store copies of critical applications and data in Unisys data centers across the globe. Other enhancements include support for Microsoft technologies including .Net Application Server and SQL Server, along with IBM Websphere and Oracle technologies.
