The National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC) is aimed at improving US national efforts to respond to threats and incidents affecting critical information technology and communications infrastructure.
The Fort Meade Cyber Command brings together hundreds of personnel from the Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations and the Joint Functional Component Command for Network Warfare.
The facility will work closely with the National Security Agency (NSA), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and other agencies on cyber warfare.
Last month the DoD and DHS signed an agreement to collaborate more closely on cyber-related issues to merge civilian and military cybersecurity efforts.
