Mara Tam is a DC-based ICT security policy expert. Mara regularly serves as a private sector adviser to executive agencies on cybersecurity issues, with particular focus on the technical and strategic implications of regulatory and policy activity. Prior to her current roles she was the Director of Government Affairs for HackerOne, a bug bounty and vulnerability coordination platform provider. Mara's background includes advanced degrees in cultural identity studies and modern history, as well as work in international security, counterinsurgency, and arms control. She is a regular speaker on regulatory and policy issues in cybersecurity, in both traditional and non-traditional settings. These include ShmooCon, DEF CON, the Atlantic Council, TROOPERS Conference, and others. Mara has recently been named a Senior Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies on Terrorism.
