According to a report published by the FBI on April 29, 2016, the number of ransomware attacks have doubled in the past year, and are likely to increase at a rapid pace. To make matters worse, cybercriminals have started launching ransomware-as-as-service affiliate programs, which are designed to encourage technically illiterate scammers to launch attacks in exchange for a percentage of the profits.
