Ransomware attacks have become endemic. Indeed, many cybersecurity experts consider ransomware the greatest concern for organizations worldwide. Behind the scenes of threat actors targeting organizations with destructive malware, a diverse illicit economy has formed and the structure of the criminal organizations behind the attacks has flattened.

Worryingly, an indefinite number of distinct threat actors are employing a wide array of techniques for any single ransomware family, ranging from requiring little skill sophistication to attack chains exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities. Surprisingly, the cyber-criminals now gaining access to networks may not be the same as those who detonate ransomware.

Against this topical backdrop, a panel of cybersecurity experts joined an Infosecurity Magazine webinar sponsored by ReaQta on November 11 2021, to discuss the diversification of ransomware attacks and the importance of an EDR in offering a robust defense.
