Check Point Launches Cyber Intelligence Marketplace

"A static approach to security, with intelligence data updated once or twice a day is not enough", Shwed told an audience of 1500. "What is needed is real-time information collected from as many points as possible."

ThreatCloud IntelliStore builds on Check Point's core security intelligence platform, ThreatCloud, incorporating intelligence from its industry partners; iSIGHT, CrowdStrike, IID, NetClean, PhishLabs, SenseCy and ThreatGRID.

The launch will offer actionable threat intelligence to customers worldwide, explained Shwed. “Customers can select and customize intelligence feeds according to their needs”.

The data collected from both internal and external sources will be used to “power the intelligence for all of the security elements on our network”, he said. “We want to transfer the information into real prevention”.

Shwed also referenced the increase of threats and targeted attacks, telling the audience that 75% of attacks are automatic. “Even targeted attacks usually start with an automated scan of the entire network looking for weak points”, he said.

Response to these attacks, Shwed conceded, is too slow, with 77% of bots active for more than four weeks before detection.

The information security challenges of 2014, said Shwed, are mobile security, the rise in volume of attacks, the speed of response, and the need for product consolidation.

“What’s needed is a single strategy to defend your assets”, he told the audience. “Multi-layered protection, security intelligence in real time and architecture beyond the network that defends data and mobile devices are all essential”, he concluded.
