Adobe issues security warning about Shockwave Player vulnerability

The vulnerability (CVE-2010-3653) could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system, the firm said.

According to the advisory, Adobe is not aware of any attacks exploiting the vulnerability, even though details of the vulnerability have been disclosed publicly.

Adobe has not yet indicated when a security patch for the vulnerability will be available.

"In the meantime, Adobe is actively sharing information about this vulnerability with partners in the security community to enable them to quickly develop detection and quarantine methods to protect users until a patch is available," the firm said.

Adobe also recommends that users follow security best practices by keeping their anti-malware software and definitions up to date.
