BitDefender readies for Windows 7 release to consumers

The IT security software vendor, BitDefender, said that its 2010 range of consumer applications - including Total Security, Internet Security and Antivirus - have received certification ensuring that they work with Microsoft Windows 7.

New features of the BitDefender 2010 line of consumer products include improved optimised scanning; active virus control; first-ever usage profiles and system enhancements.

The system enhancements are billed as allowing the security software to dynamically expand or contract its system resource usage, meaning that it can offer what BitDefender calls pro-active protection without slowing down the host PC's performance.

Vince Hwang, BitDefender's global director of product management, said that working with Microsoft to achieve Winows 7 certification allows the company to meet the changing needs of its customers and provide the very best in security solutions to its users.

"These include intuitive user interfaces with usage profiles that cover anyone from gamers to parents, as well as improved security and reliability features including Active Virus Control, an innovative technology that monitors programs running on a user's computer and detects malware-like actions as they execute", he said.
