Coming this spring, secunet will unveil the latest version of its SINA Workstation S – a fat client with a cryptographic file system and IPSec-protected communication. It will feature some impressive new developments focusing entirely on improving user-friendliness. With a new graphic user interface, the company said it has simplified the operation of the SINA secure OS. Another new feature includes automated Wi-Fi hotspot login that uses a specially designed SINA app.

The SINA Workstation S has been approved by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for the processing, storage and transfer of sensitive data for the “Restricted” classification level, which is aimed at national and international security networks. With the SINA Workstation S, all of the functions required to protect and operate the client are compactly integrated into one hardware platform. Additional peripheral add-ons are not necessary, according to secunet. The basic communications options are supported by LAN, WLAN, UMTS and Bluetooth.

secunet describes the SINA Workstation as easy to operate and absolutely flexible to use. Its all-inclusive security concept, according to the firm, offers significantly more than a conventional cryptographic device: smartcard-authentication, hard drive encryption, interface control, IPsec-protected communication and a secure operating system. There is no need for time-consuming and costly administration of multiple individual components supplied by different manufacturers, secunet pointed out. SINA users can work on parallel sets of data of varying classification without any constraints and in familiar formats (e.g., with classic Microsoft Windows applications). Users can operate on the move, in complete security, and without the use of external devices, cables or connectors, which also means reduced power consumption.

In addition to updates for SINA Workstation Software, SINA technology will – for the first time – also be available on tablet PCs. The technological foundation for this innovation is the all-new SINA Workstation 3.1, which secunet said is convenient, secure and efficient to use – at all times, in all locations and with all applications.
