Assistant Professor of Computer Information Systems at WVU Potomac State College

Mary Moore is Associate Professor and Unit Coordinator of Computer Information Systems at West Virginia University, Potomac State College in Keyser, WV.

The Computer Information Systems program has a focus on cybersecurity and offers courses in hardware, networking, programming, databases, and system analysis and design. Students can pursue Associates and Bachelors degrees of Applied Science.

Professor Moore is responsible for curriculum and program development, community outreach, and teaching classes in all areas of Computer Information Systems. Her research interests include OSINT, social engineering, and insider threats-though she is also teaching a pentesting course this semester.

Professor Moore has participated in DFR Labs Digital Sherlocks program and is a member of the WiCyS and WeHackPurple communities among other groups. She has worked with the National Cyberwatch Center’s Curriculum Standards Panel and is also a Google Cloud Faculty Expert, focusing on developing projects for students to use Google Cloud Resources for course projects.

Prior to studying Computer Science (Professor Moore obtained her MS in Applied Computer Science at Frostburg State University), Professor Moore worked as an instructor in the Humanities (she also has a Masters in Art History from Temple University) and also in various roles in Student Support and Accessibility Services at a community college.
