Global telecom giant NTT is expanding its focus to cybersecurity. NTT Security Corp. has officially spread its wings and taken flight as a standalone, specialized security company.

As an operating division of the Japanese powerhouse, the new company brings together NTT's advanced analytics technologies, threat intelligence and security experts. It delivers managed security services (MSS) and specialized security professional services.

The services will be taken to market globally, and client engagement will be managed by NTT operating companies via various channels, including Dimension Data, NTT Communications and NTT Data.

NTT Security is hanging its hat on a 24/7 security analyst and proprietary advanced security information analysis platform, which is aimed at enabling real-time threat detection and validation, severity determination, reporting, remediation advisory and immediate isolation and protection. Additionally, NTT Security provides secure IT lifecycle management with continuous vulnerability testing, patch management, advisory and compliance reporting.

Technical support and advisories based on security specialized expertise enable organizations' security risk identification, implementation of the right controls, appropriate incident response and forensics.

NTT Security has 1,400 employees and a direct presence in 14 countries, and the company said that it expects to further expand its global footprint in the coming month. The fledgling company has regional headquarters in the US, Europe, Asia Pacific and Japan, with Tokyo acting as its global HQ. Its CEO is Jun Sawada, who is also senior executive vice president at NTT.
