SecureWorks scoops up UK's dns in private cash and stocks deal

dns is a 10-year-old managed information security services and consulting organisation which employs around 60 people at its operations in London and Edinburgh.

SecureWorks, meanwhile, and which raised $31.5 million this summer, has over 2700 clients on six continents.

Under the agreement, SecureWorks says it is gaining access to a team of seasoned information security analysts and consultants, an identity and access management practice, plus additional sales and management staff "dedicated to growing revenues in the UK and Europe".

In addition, the firm said that the intelligence delivered by the SecureWorks' counter threat unit will benefit from the additional threat visibility provided by an increasingly diverse client base.

"This is a positive move for both SecureWorks and dns - and our combined client base", said Mike Cote, SecureWorks' chairman.

"Both SecureWorks and dns focus exclusively on information security and are committed to delivering excellent client service while looking after the welfare of our employees", he said.

"We believe in maintaining long-term relationships with our clients and working side by side as their security partner. With such similar values and business objectives, I believe we have chosen the perfect company to acquire as we continue our global expansion."

Over at dns, meanwhile, Graeme Cox, the firm's managing director, said that being a part of SecureWorks will greatly benefit the firm's clients and its business.

"By combining our local expertise and security consulting talent with SecureWorks' managed security services, consulting and threat intelligence, we can greatly expand the depth and breadth of services we currently offer our clients", he said.

"Our clients now have access to a full portfolio of service offerings that provide superior threat protection, improved regulatory compliance and increased return on security investments", he added.

"Plus, our clients can be assured that they will receive the very best in client service as this is a top priority for both SecureWorks and dns. I feel confident that this will be a very rewarding combination."
