ISF Annual World Congress takes place in Berlin next week

The ISF event, which runs from the 18th of September next week, is billed as featuring an impressive line-up of keynote speakers, including science author, producer and journalist Simon Singh who will be sharing his insights on cryptography.

Attendees will also hear from Mikko Hypponen, Chief Research Officer at F-Secure; David Emm, Senior Security Researcher with the Global Research and Analysis Team at Kaspersky Lab; Professor Costas Markides of the London Business School; Michael Hange, President of the Federal Agency for Security in Information Technology, BSI; and Robert Carolina, Senior Visiting Fellow from Royal Holloway, the University of London.

Plans call for the event to feature a total of 49 breakout sessions covering topics such as security governance, cyber threats, securing mobile devices and risk assessment and risk treatment.

In addition, the ISF says that a dedicated stream will welcome CISOs from round the world to provide insights and debate key issues. Following the recent launch of the updated 2011 Standard of Good Practice (SoGP), the forum will also be using the event to gather member feedback and promote the SoGP more widely.

Michael de Crespigny, the forum's CEO, said that the congress is a unique gathering and networking event for security practitioners and other security professionals from around the world.

Over the four days, participants will be able to talk, learn and share knowledge and experiences in a truly collaborative environment, he said, adding that it has been a challenging and busy year in our industry.

“One in which we’ve witnessed the proliferation of mobile devices in the workplace and the challenges this presents, the rise of cyber threats and major incidents, and the constant need for security governance and to build a security-positive environment in business today. We're seeing record demand from our members to share, collaborate and solve problems, and will deliver our best congress yet”, he said.
