Panda Security releases Mac anti-virus for enterprises

Panda has billed the new anti-virus offering as a comprehensive solution to hybrid computing environments, as the Mac Corporate Edition aims to protect against malware infection for all Mac computers, regardless of the operating system they run (including Windows). In addition, this protection includes servers and portable devices using Apple iOS, such as the iPhone, iPad, and iPod.

Apple devices running the company’s various operating systems have swiftly spread over the past few years, Infosecurity notes, especially in the consumer space. But now these same devices are creeping their way into the enterprise, and it’s a point underscored by Panda’s corporate product director, Bruno Rodríguez.

“Many companies, universities, and other organizations now operate with a diverse network topology including Mac servers and workstations that work alongside Windows and other systems”, he said. “In these mixed environments, it is crucial to protect against specific threats that target Apple platforms, as well as ensure Mac devices cannot be used as carriers for threats to other platforms.”

Panda’s Mac Corporate Edition claims to protect against the ever-increasing malware threats affecting users of Apple devices, a trend many analysts see continuing into the future as the company’s products gain market share. The enterprise version, however, also addresses threats posed by Windows-based malware that can affect the Mac platform, according to Panda.
