Tesco chooses Fortinet for threat management

Tesco HSC hosts and protects Tesco's corporate data for its worldwide operations and provides business information services to more than 3,200 Tesco stores in 12 countries, including the United States, Japan, China, Ireland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, Malaysia, South Korea and Thailand.

Sridhar Rathnam, director of IT Services for Tesco HSC, said: "As the hub of Tesco's network security operations worldwide we needed our security, monitoring and management systems to be tightly integrated, so that we could easily configure our security systems remotely and also drill-down for more details about security incidents when they occur."

Tesco HSC chose Fortinet's FortiGate-1000 and FortiGate-500 network security appliances for firewall, intrusion prevention (IPS), antivirus, anti-spam and web content filtering security services to protect the corporation's and the division's data. The deployment also includes three FortiAnalyzer appliances, which log and analyse security event data, and one FortiManager appliance, Fortinet's central management system, at Tesco HSC's facility in Bangalore, India.

Earlier this year, Tesco began deploying a flywheel-based system from Active Power to replace traditional uninterruptible power supplies in its UK datacentres.
