Third batch of arrests shows ZeuS code is more widespread than previously thought

Ukraininan police say that they have arrested five people in an operation called 'Trident Breach' and carried out in close association with the FBI.

European newswires quote the SBU, the Ukrainian police agency, as saying the five people arrested are part of a 'mastermind' group that may have orchestrated the UK and US gangs.

This suggests, Infosecurity notes, that further arrests in connection with ZeuS are likely in the coming days.

The Finextra newswire, meanwhile, says that operation Trident Breach started in May of last year when the FBI's Omaha, Nebraska operation was alerted to a clutch of 46 automated clearing house payments sent to bank accounts across the US.

Following an investigation into those payments, the FBI started working with a number of US agencies, as well as foreign agencies in the Netherlands, the UK and the Ukraine.
