Google to purchase forensic specialist Zynamics

Germany-based security firm Zynamics has apparently agreed to be aquired by Google, according to an announcement published on the company’s blog on Tuesday. Zynamics, which specializes in reverse-engineering and software analysis tools, is headed by chief executive Thomas Dullien.

Founded in 2004, Zynamics offers several program and malware analysis products. The company, according to its website, focuses “on the needs of the reverse engineering community in both information security and malware analysis”. Zymanic’s goal, it adds, is to create “innovative methods for improving the productivity of the software analyst”.

Zynamics provided no details about the purchase, directing those seeking more information to Google.

“We’re delighted to have the Zynamics team aboard and hope their tools and skills in fighting malware will help us better protect Google’s users”, a spokesperson from Google told Infosecurity. The same Google spokesperson declined further comment and said details of the transaction will not be disclosed.
