Global Security Challenge finalists announced

Now in its sixth year, the 2011 Global Security Challenge continues to look for new technologies and innovations within the security sector.

Alongside the new UK section, this year there are two categories, one for start-ups (embryonic companies, concept projects or university research projects) and one for SMEs. As in previous years, prize grants totalling $500,000 are available to the winners.

Unlike some other competitions, the GSC is completely free to enter and, say the organisers, make no demands on intellectual property or company ownership.

The gameplan is for all regional finalists to compete at GSC Regional Finals, which will be held around the world in the coming months.

Winners of the regional finals will then advance to the Global Finals, taking place as part of PitchLive, a two-day innovation marketplace in London on 24/25 October this year.
