Kaspersky Lab says half of net digital pollution originates from China, US and Russia

According to the Kaspersky Lab study, China accounted for 22%, whilst the Russian Federation was responsible for 17% of what the company calls internet digital pollution.

The US, meanwhile, was responsible for 10%, way ahead of India in fourth position with 4% of problems.

David Emm a member of Kaspersky's global research and analysis team at Kaspersky Lab, said: "it is interesting to note that specific geographic regions specialise in different forms of malware."

"For example Russia is a hotbed of botnet activity, whilst many of the banking Trojans originate from Latin America. Meanwhile, China specialises in gaming malware", he said.

Delving into Kaspersky's April malware and spam report also reveals that Germany was responsible for 4% of digital pollution, followed by Italy, Spain, the UK and Ukraine with 3% each.
