Sourcefire says that, by supporting the two leading virtual environments – Xen and VMware – it is allowing customers with diverse virtual platforms to protect these investments, while also leveraging these resources to increase intrusion prevention capabilities.
According to Sourcefire, its Virtual 3D Sensor and Defence Centre now provide Xen environments with all the functionality that was previously available for VMware.
Tom Ashoff, the firm's senior vice president of engineering, said that, as virtualisation takes off in today's environments, Sourcefire's support for Xen and VMware allows users to select the platform of their choice with effective protection against today's attacks.
"By extending protection to the Xen platform, more users will be able to leverage our award-winning technology to protect both their virtual and physical environments", he explained.
