Dave is an experienced cybersecurity and technology leader with a career spanning defence, government and the private sector. He began his career in the British Army as a Royal Signals Operator, serving for 10 years, including supporting counter-terrorism operations overseas. He subsequently held senior IT and security roles within the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, where he concluded his civil service career as Head of International Cyber Capacity Building.

In 2019, Dave co-founded CYSIAM, a specialist cybersecurity consultancy supporting public and private sector organisations to understand and manage the risks facing their critical systems and data. He initially served as Chief Technology Officer before becoming Managing Director in 2021 and subsequently Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, CYSIAM has developed expertise across cyber threat intelligence, managed detection and response, incident response and cyber resilience, working with organisations across critical national infrastructure, defence and enterprise environments.

Dave is Chair of the CREST UK Council, providing strategic leadership and representing the interests of CREST’s UK membership. He brings extensive operational, international and commercial experience to the role, contributing to CREST’s work to strengthen trust, assurance and professional standards across the cybersecurity profession and support organisations in making informed decisions about cyber risk.
