Fortinet calls security business an arms race

Speaking to resellers and systems integrators at the IT security firm's first UK partner conference yesterday, Judd said that there are now more threats appearing that Fortinet's research team are discovering and tackling.

The problem, he said, is that companies have to do more with their IT security but with less resources than they had just a few years ago – and all with lower operating costs.

Research firm Gartner, he says, has reported that companies are significantly less confident that their IT security solutions are stopping all the security threats [against their systems] than they were just five years ago.

According to Judd, Fortinet 's1500 staff located in more than 30 offices around the world, "allows us to provide follow-the-sun research and support in tackling the latest threats in real time", he said.

Coupled with increasing use of ASIC-driven technology, he added, Fortinet is able to reduce both the capex and opex of the IT security solutions that it provides its customers.
