Infosecurity Europe: PGP announce release of Command Line for IBM power systems at ‘mature’ industry exhibition

With the Command Line, PGP has extended its support for a range of operating systems including Windows, Unix and Linux, intended for enterprises to integrate business information security with end-to-end communication. The release offers flexibility when securing confidential data exchanges between heterogeneous systems both internally and externally with third-parties.

Formerly known as i5/OS, IBM i will support virtualised, large transaction processing and line-of-business applications typically deployed in vertical industries such as financial services, retail and insurance.

The PGP Command Line for IBM Power systems will allow administrators to add encryption to existing business processes including batch processing, data transfer and backup.

Jamie Cowper, director EMEA marketing at PGP, called the Infosecurity Europe 2009 show “surprisingly buoyant”.

“There’s a high level of focus and attention,” he said, adding that “No one’s doing a technological project because it’s the right thing to do”, instead he stated, vendors are responding to actual customer demands.

“It shows how mature the industry has become.”
