(ISC)², IT-ACC form alliance to improve government IT acquisition processes

The alliance is intended to provide clarity for government personnel about how security fits into the acquisition process, how to evaluate contracts from a security mindset using language that ensures supply chain integrity, and what credentials best address and test these skills among both new hires and experienced acquisition specialists.

One benefit of the alliance for federal information security professionals is that they will now have a more consistent channel through which they can obtain (ISC)² professional credentials and continuing education credits. “The addition of (ISC)² to the IT-AAC partnership adds a critical dimension to our ability to train and equip the public sector workforce as they enter the new paradigm of secure cloud computing and service-oriented architecture”, John A. Weiler, managing director of IT-AAC, observed.

“Our goal in working with organizations like IT-AAC is to improve professional development channels, strengthen the federal cyber security workforce, and ultimately assist in ‘building security in’ to the earliest stages of IT procurement”, commented Hord Tipton, executive director of (ISC)². “ We hope our relationship benefits all involved, as we share common goals and priorities with respect to IT innovation and the establishment and sharing of best practices”, he added.
