Arbor Networks is latest acquisition target

Tektronix Communications signed an agreement to acquire Chelmsford, Mass.-based Arbor Networks it was announced yesterday, in an effort to bolster its network security and management offerings.

Tektronix is a provider of network diagnostic and management tools and is part of the Communications and Enterprise (CEG) group of parent company Danaher. For its part, Arbor Networks brings to Tektronix its network threat detection and mitigation products.

Infosecurity has learned that the deal will allow Arbor Networks to remain as a separate operating company, keeping in place its brand and management structure.

Commenting on the acquisition, Danaher executive Rich McBee said “Arbor Networks is ideally positioned to continue its growth path by protecting the availability of networks and services around the world as the size, complexity and frequency of network security threats continues to grow”.

Arbor Networks CEO Colin Doherty added that the deal with provide Tektronix “the ability to offer their customers best-in-class network IP software security and management solutions”.

The companies said the deal is expected to close in September of this year. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
